MISSIONARY COMMITTEES
The Church of Jesus
Christ has from its inception been challenged by the words of Christ as
recorded in the final chapter of Matthew to “Go ye therefore and teach
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost…” Matt. 28:19-20. This Gospel of Jesus Christ is
truly a “Pearl for Salvation” made available to all of His Creation who
are seeking with a sincere heart.
In the early 1950’s the General Assembly of The
Church Priesthood organized their missionary efforts to oversee work
that had begun in foreign lands as well as in the United States. During
a General Church Conference held in 1952, the Priesthood established a
“Missionary Board” to oversee and regulate the missionary affairs of The
Church. Over the years the work continued to grow and the original
missionary board was expanded to better serve the needs of the mission
fields. Today, Missionary Programs of The Church are managed by
individual committees for Domestic, Seed of Joseph (Native American)
and International missionary endeavors.
