The Peace of God
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
Last Sunday, one of the elders in my branch opened our sermon with these verses. I felt the Lord was speaking to me, as these same exact verses had recently been laid upon my heart.
We can look around us, see things on social media and the news, and we know the scriptures are unfolding before us. The “human” in us can start to feel afraid, uneasy, and even anxious, as we hear and see things happening. But we know that God does not give us a spirit of fear. Fear is a liar and comes from the father of all lies.
Don’t think for one second that the devil won’t try to whisper fear into your ears. Don’t think that he won’t be working overtime. He wants to ruin lives, tear families apart, and spread heartache, addictions, and temptations wherever he can sneak them in. He wants to sugar-coat things so that we feel confused and question which path is the right one. He wants us to suffer. He wants our souls!
But, we have “the peace of God which passeth all understanding...” Wow, there’s so much power in those words. That is my favorite part of that passage. His peace is greater than anything the world offers. We can seek peace through family and friends, but nothing will ever compare to the peace of God! His Peace is unlike any other!
God is revealing more things to us, and we need to continue to pray for discernment. We want to hear His voice so that we always know the right path to take. We need to pray for our children, young people, all of God’s people, and for those who don’t know Him yet. The devil doesn’t care who we are, or how old we are, he will take whoever he can, and he knows his time is short.
The Lord is coming soon.
