The Missing Wedding Ring

Today's lost-and-found testimony comes from Sister Adoni Martinez, where she shares an experience about misplacing something most precious.

I often take my wedding ring off and put it in my back pocket when I am doing various chores around the house. On this particular day, I had some chores to do, so I took my ring off like I always do and put it in my back pocket — or at least I thought I did.

After finishing my chores, I ran to the store and came right back home. Later that day, I realized I didn't have my ring on and reached into my back pocket ... but it wasn't there.

I searched the house and then started to panic. I searched the house again, all the rooms, the bathroom, kitchen, couch, under the couch, my car. I called the store, drove back to the store, retraced my steps. My ring was nowhere to be found.

When I returned home, my husband could tell something was wrong, and I told him I couldn't find my wedding ring. As most husbands would, he asked if I had checked here, there, and everywhere, and I replied yes. He wasn't too happy with me, and I couldn't blame him. You see, he has often told me, "Don't put your ring in your pocket; you're going to lose it one day." Well, he was right.

I began to panic and cry. That night, I prayed and asked God to help me find it. I couldn't sleep. As weird as it sounds, I know it's just a thing, but it almost felt like I had lost a part of me.

The next morning, I woke up and went into the living room, kneeled by the couch, and started to cry and pray. I pleaded with God to help me find it. When I was done, I wiped my tears, and something told me to check the couch again. Remember, I had checked the couch thoroughly the day before.

When I looked just as I was directed, there was my ring perfectly set between the arm of the couch and the cushion, as if someone had purposely set it there. Imagine a ring in a ring box; that's exactly the way I found it. I grabbed my phone and took a picture to show my husband how I found it. (That's the picture that appears at the top of this article.)

I went to my room and woke up my husband and told him I had found the ring in the couch. Because of how it was placed, I asked him if he had found it and put it there, and he said no. I asked him a few more times because I didn't believe him. The way I found it was too perfect, but he still said no.

Then I knew without a doubt that it was God. From that day, I make sure that when I take my ring off, I put it in my jewelry box. No more back pocket.
