The Bite and the Blessing

Today's Miracle Monday is an experience shared by Sister Betty D'Orazio that happened in 1964. It's a great reminder that God never changes.

We were at a picnic at my brother's home when his dog accidently bit my daughter, Mary, who was 4 years old at the time. She startled him, and he jumped and bit the side of her face, cutting through the skin really deep. We cleaned it, prayed, and went to the ER. The ER doctor said he needed to stitch her face, and after the procedure, we left with our brave little girl — trusting God.

Around 12 a.m., she woke up crying. We ran to her bedroom, and there was blood everywhere. We cleaned her face and prayed again to God. The bleeding stopped, and she fell asleep.

The next morning, I took her to our family doctor and explained what had happened. The doctor checked her face and said, "Thank goodness they didn't stitch her face. She has a bad infection from the bite. Good thing it bled and released the blood.

I said, "They did stitch her face." He laughed and said, "If they had stitched her face, she would be in the hospital right now, as the infection would have spread."

When we arrived home, I received a call from one of our older sisters, who was always in tune to our God, and she asked me if anything was wrong with Mary. I was shocked and told her what had happened.

She said that at 12 a.m., she was awakened and saw Mary before her with her face bleeding, and the Lord told her to go into prayer for Mary. Praise His name, for His name is worthy to be praised. All Mary has of the bite is a tiny scar on her face.

Called to Prayer

Has the Lord ever prompted you to pray for someone? Has the Lord ever prompted someone to pray for you? Did a testimony result? If you're answering yes, then we'd love to hear your story and share here so that God can be glorified.

What a beautiful testimony and reminder of God’s protection. Having known Mary while growing along side her I have ever even noticed a little scar. What a remarkable experience that has truly shaped the beautiful sister that she is today.
