Spread the Good Word: 1 Corinthians 13:6

Today's Good Word tells us that charity doesn't delight in wrongdoing. It rejoices in truth. How does this apply to our lives today?

Some people use "love" as a reason to excuse sin. For example, "I love this person too much to hurt him. If I tell him the truth, I will hurt him."

How about this one: "I'm doing [insert any sinful behavior] because I love the person I'm doing it for."

Here's one more: "But I really love [insert any sinful behavior]. How could it be bad if I love it (or need it) so much?"

We all know that sometimes the truth can hurt. It's called tough love because we have to be tough-skinned to take it. It's the bitter pill that goes down hard but eventually cures our wound.

True love isn't just telling people what they want to hear. It's telling them the truth in a loving manner. True love doesn't make excuses for wrongdoing. Love calls us to a higher spiritual mind where we can see the wrongdoing as God sees it.

Does something about today's scripture ring true for you? What might God be calling you to do (or not do) in the name of love?
