She Missed Her Own Funeral

She Missed Her Own Funeral

Today's Miracle Monday is an amazing story that lives up to its title. This one happened in the Levittown Branch and was submitted by Brother Jerry Valenti.

It is a sad fact of the times we live in that many of us are affected, either directly or indirectly, by an epidemic known as addiction. A number of young people from our area have died in recent years as a result of addiction, typically in the form of a drug overdose.

This epidemic claimed another victim just a couple of weeks ago, on Friday, May 26, 2017, when a girl named Xenia, the 19-year-old daughter of one our Levittown sisters, was rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious and unresponsive in her home.

An Anniversary to Remember

An Anniversary to Remember

Today's Miracle Monday is from Sister Jennifer Robertson, and, funny enough, it happened on a Monday!

My husband and I always go on a mini vacation for our anniversary. We always take our two dogs, Sierra and Alaska, with us. We usually head to the Kern River in California, but this was our seventh anniversary and we decided to go somewhere different. We love the mountains, so we chose to go to Big Bear, California.

On our trips, we love to hike, fish, and do a little off-roading. We were unfamiliar with Big Bear, so we inquired about some places to do all three. At a local fish and bait shop, we heard about a location in Lake Arrowhead that sounded promising. We were thrilled! We made plans to head to this place the next day.

The Definition of Faith

Today, we're ending our travel-themed Miracle Mondays with a dream submitted by Sister Marilyn Scolaro — originally published on May 6, 2013.

Many years ago, the Lord gave me a very comforting message in a dream. My husband's job required him to do a great amount of traveling around the country and the world. I just was never comfortable with him flying all the time. Very early one morning in March of 1986 when he left for the airport, I prayed that God would protect him and give me some peace. At the end of my prayer, I said I just need to have faith.

It’s Only a Bracelet

Today's travel-themed Miracle Monday is from Sister Lynette Huttenberger.

Recently my husband and I were on a Caribbean cruise enjoying the island of St. Kitts. (I’m a lucky lady because Brother Jim enjoys shopping as much as I do. “Want to go to the mall?", I ask. He’s in the garage with the car running!)

On a Parisian Street Corner

Today's travel-related Miracle Monday is a memory from your Gospel Blog Editor, Sister Michelle Watson.

For my husband's 30th birthday, we did this two-week trip to Europe. One of our stops was Paris. We had a spectacular time, but one thing that we just couldn't get the hang of was the metro. It seemed like every time we descended into that underground labyrinth we'd either get lost or take three times as long as necessary to figure out which fork in the tunnel to take.

Listen to the Spirit

Today, we're bringing you another travel testimony with a story from Brother Rich Nath.

Since we moved to Texas, God has blessed us with the ability to visit our families in Pennsylvania a few times each year. Typically, we'll take longer trips in the summer and around Christmas, allowing the option to drive rather than fly. During the summer several years ago, we decided to drive and left Houston one late afternoon.

Fear in Headlights

Fear in Headlights

Today's travel-themed Miracle Monday is from Sister Terri Nath. It's short but a stunner.

On a November night 34 years ago, I was on my way home from Christmas shopping. I was driving along the river road, which is dark with no berm along the side of the road. As I was going up a slight grade, I saw headlights coming straight at me in my lane. There was no place for me to go, and I only had a moment to say, "God help me."

Long Lost ... Again

Long Lost ... Again

For our lost-and-found theme, we're republishing a Miracle Monday from Jan. 25, 2016 by Sister Linda Scolaro.

It was Christmas Eve, and my husband and I were busy dividing and conquering, running errands, doing last-minute grocery shopping and spending a lot of time cooking for our Christmas dinner.

First, my husband misplaced his wedding band and college ring. He calmly said, “It will turn up.” At the end of the evening, I emptied my pockets, and my wedding band was gone as well. I slept uneasily, but I resolved that I would look for the ring after all of our Christmas festivities were over.

The Tale of the Errant Earring

The Tale of the Errant Earring

Today's lost-and-found Miracle Monday is a real gem submitted by Sister Alicia Draskovich.

I was taking off my diamond stud earrings one evening in my bedroom next to my jewelry box. I lost my grip on one, and it fell to the floor. I immediately got down and began hunting for it. Since I have fairly thick, shaggy carpet it was not an easy task. I scoured the entire area, got down on my hands and knees, and ran my fingers through the carpet, hoping it would pop up. I could not find it anywhere.

Recovered Records

Recovered Records

Today's lost-and-found Miracle Monday comes from Sister Cindy Henderson. She shares what happened when her Book of Mormon went missing.

Over the years, when I've misplaced or lost various items, I’ve learned to stop what I’m doing and kneel and ask God to direct my mind to walk to the area where the item was set down. He has helped me quickly find keys, important papers, and other things that were not in their usual place.

I'm in the habit of leaving my scriptures in a book bag when I’m done reading. Recently, I placed my Book of Mormon on the end table in our family room. I decided to pick it up when a visitor came to buy some of my school resources. My fear was that this book would accidentally get packed up with the boxes of books she was purchasing. (I’d had several books on display in my family room for her to browse at her leisure, so anything non-school related got moved to another room.)

Found … Then Lost!

Found … Then Lost!

Today's Miracle Monday is from Sister Janet Oestreicher, and it's the first that corresponds to our April theme, which is "lost and found." We love this testimony because it's actually a "reverse" lost and found. Sister Janet's doctors found something but then … read on to see what happened.

On March 1, 2017, I had surgery on my back. For three months, I had been experiencing severe pain in my right leg and could barely walk. I have an excellent neurosurgeon who ordered an MRI that showed I had a herniated disc that was pressing on a nerve. It needed surgery.

Heeding the Call

Heeding the Call

Today is the first miracle for our March theme, which is "big decisions." We're sharing an experience submitted by Brother Paul Pezzenti about how he knew it was time to move his family from one branch of the church to another.

In August 1987 at an Ohio District Conference in Warren, I listened to Evangelist Fred Olexa open the meeting. After a powerful, spirit-filled message, he began to stress the need for missionary work within The Church.

Break the Chain

Break the Chain

My dad, the late Brother Tim Capone, had a dream before asking for his baptism. His dream has been one of the most impactful things in my life. I know some of you may remember this, and some may not, so I want to share it with you.

In the dream, my dad was walking on the top of a fence line, and on one side of the fence, it was beautiful. He saw family and church members on that side, and they were all smiling, and it was good. On the other side, it was dark and evil. He could hear the devil laughing at him.

Miracle Monday or Blessing Bit?

Miracle Monday or Blessing Bit?

God still performs miracles today. Agree or disagree?

I think many of you would agree that this statement is true. We see evidence of God all around us — in the beauty and order of the natural world, in the love we share with the saints, in the Holy Spirit that works on and in us when we hear or read His word.

But there are times when this "evidence of God" becomes strikingly clear in our lives. Something extraordinary happens, and there's no satisfactory explanation other than God moved on our behalf.

Immediately Delivered

Immediately Delivered

Today's Miracle Monday was submitted by Sister Cindy Henderson, and it highlights the power of prayer and God's healing touch.

Have you ever been immediately delivered from a physical affliction? Today, I share a blessing times three. Back in 2000, I was in the chemotherapy phase of treatment for breast cancer. A few months into the treatments, I found myself getting weaker, lacking energy, and extremely fatigued. My husband had carefully altered his work schedule so that I was not left alone for any long periods.
