Cure for a Coma

Today, we're republishing a Miracle Monday from March 25, 2013, sent to us by Sister Debbie Meo Kyriakakos.

This is my miracle story. This was told to me by my parents and family members because I was only 1 year old when this took place. I had been very sick for several days and became dehydrated. My parents took me to the doctor, who assured them that I would be fine in a couple days. But my dehydration persisted for several more days.

Healed in More Ways Than One

Healed in More Ways Than One

Today's Miracle Monday is the testimony of Sister Joyce Smith. God helped her through two bouts of cancer, but this story is about a specific time she was in need during her journey.

I thank God that I am a two-time cancer survivor, from breast cancer in 1998 and rectal cancer in 2012. I praise God every morning I wake.

When I was admitted to the hospital to have surgery for the rectal cancer, I was told I would likely remain in the hospital for four to five days after surgery, but I ended up staying for 11 days — because, naturally, I couldn't go home until my bowel movements returned.

No Matter How Many Times You Fall

No Matter How Many Times You Fall

Our August Miracle Monday theme is "help in difficult times." Today, we're reposting an article from May 16, 2013, and it's actually a story printed in the July 2000 issue of the Gospel News. This is a dream had by Brother Mark Cotellesse.

One night, I was very sad because I was struggling to grow closer to the Lord and having a difficult time. I suddenly had a desire not only to pray for myself, but for all the struggling young people in The Church. I prayed with my whole heart and soul.

From Wreck to Worship

From Wreck to Worship

On Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, I was driving across a small bridge and found myself on black ice. The car began to skid, and as I drove off the bridge, the car fishtailed, crossed the oncoming lane, and hit a guardrail head-on. The impact was so severe that the rear tires lifted off the road.

At this point, I had no doubt that the car was going to flip over the guardrail. Had this happened, I would have rolled down an embankment and landed in water. Of course, I was praying from the moment the car began to skid. God heard the prayers and intervened.

The rear tires came down and the car began to spin completely out of control. I hit the same guardrail three more times (rear end, front end, rear end) until I finally was able to stop the car across the two lanes of the road.

The miracles had already begun on the road:

When Opportunity Knocks

When Opportunity Knocks

For today's Miracle Monday, we're re-publishing this story from the early days of the blog, Jan. 17, 2013. It's an out-of-body experience told by Sister Sylvia Curry.

I was in the living room of my home in Simi Valley, California, running the sweeper over the carpet, but my mind was troubled. I was thinking about several people who were going through a particularly difficult time. Their burdens were heavy on my heart because I loved them. I’d offered many times to help, but they’d refused. I cried silently to the Lord, “Father, you know that my heart wants to help, but they are just pushing me away. I’m so frustrated. Please help.”

Not Even a Scratch

Not Even a Scratch

Today is the first of our military-and-service themed Miracle Mondays, and this one was submitted by California Highway Patrol officer Brother Mark Rabe.

During my typical graveyard shift as a patrolman, I was partnered up with my friend, Scott. It was a somewhat quiet night, and I got a routine call from my dispatch to go check for a road hazard on a rural mountain highway called Ortega Highway. Many Southern Californians know it as a very dangerous and fatal road. In fact, most of the fatal traffic collisions in our jurisdiction usually occur on this highway.

Pain, Pain Go Away

Pain, Pain Go Away

Today's Miracle Monday is a story of healing submitted by Sister Tammy Valenti. If this article looks familiar, that's because we accidentally sent it out via email on June 11 — a technical error on our part. The good news is that if you missed it, you've got a second chance to read all about it.

January 1, 2002 started like any other holiday — my mother and I went shopping. I started showing signs of what I thought was going to be a bad cold. I had no idea what was about to happen.

By that night, half of my face started to hurt. The pain got progressively worse. I reached the point that I simply could not function. I went to the doctor, and he diagnosed the pain as trigeminal neuralgia, which means there is a nerve in your face with three nerve endings. One, two, or all three of these nerve endings could possibly become inflamed. In my case, all three nerve endings were inflamed.

The Supernatural Suitcase

The Supernatural Suitcase

Today's Miracle Monday is a memory of Brother Randy Ciccati's about how God protected his family from what could've been a terrible disaster.

One year when I was growing up, my parents decided to drive to Lorain, Ohio and help my grandparents move to Cape Coral, Florida where they were going to retire. In those years, Cape Coral met at a yacht club. Yes, I have been to the infamous branch known as “The Yacht Club.” My brother had just turned 16 and got his driver’s license, and my grandparents were giving him a car they no longer needed. Not wanting to drive two cars back to California, my father decided to tow the 1964 white Mercury sedan back to California.

She Missed Her Own Funeral

She Missed Her Own Funeral

Today's Miracle Monday is an amazing story that lives up to its title. This one happened in the Levittown Branch and was submitted by Brother Jerry Valenti.

It is a sad fact of the times we live in that many of us are affected, either directly or indirectly, by an epidemic known as addiction. A number of young people from our area have died in recent years as a result of addiction, typically in the form of a drug overdose.

This epidemic claimed another victim just a couple of weeks ago, on Friday, May 26, 2017, when a girl named Xenia, the 19-year-old daughter of one our Levittown sisters, was rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious and unresponsive in her home.

An Anniversary to Remember

An Anniversary to Remember

Today's Miracle Monday is from Sister Jennifer Robertson, and, funny enough, it happened on a Monday!

My husband and I always go on a mini vacation for our anniversary. We always take our two dogs, Sierra and Alaska, with us. We usually head to the Kern River in California, but this was our seventh anniversary and we decided to go somewhere different. We love the mountains, so we chose to go to Big Bear, California.

On our trips, we love to hike, fish, and do a little off-roading. We were unfamiliar with Big Bear, so we inquired about some places to do all three. At a local fish and bait shop, we heard about a location in Lake Arrowhead that sounded promising. We were thrilled! We made plans to head to this place the next day.

The Definition of Faith

Today, we're ending our travel-themed Miracle Mondays with a dream submitted by Sister Marilyn Scolaro — originally published on May 6, 2013.

Many years ago, the Lord gave me a very comforting message in a dream. My husband's job required him to do a great amount of traveling around the country and the world. I just was never comfortable with him flying all the time. Very early one morning in March of 1986 when he left for the airport, I prayed that God would protect him and give me some peace. At the end of my prayer, I said I just need to have faith.

Today's travel-themed Miracle Monday is from Sister Lynette Huttenberger.

Recently my husband and I were on a Caribbean cruise enjoying the island of St. Kitts. (I’m a lucky lady because Brother Jim enjoys shopping as much as I do. “Want to go to the mall?", I ask. He’s in the garage with the car running!)

On a Parisian Street Corner

Today's travel-related Miracle Monday is a memory from your Gospel Blog Editor, Sister Michelle Watson.

For my husband's 30th birthday, we did this two-week trip to Europe. One of our stops was Paris. We had a spectacular time, but one thing that we just couldn't get the hang of was the metro. It seemed like every time we descended into that underground labyrinth we'd either get lost or take three times as long as necessary to figure out which fork in the tunnel to take.

Listen to the Spirit

Today, we're bringing you another travel testimony with a story from Brother Rich Nath.

Since we moved to Texas, God has blessed us with the ability to visit our families in Pennsylvania a few times each year. Typically, we'll take longer trips in the summer and around Christmas, allowing the option to drive rather than fly. During the summer several years ago, we decided to drive and left Houston one late afternoon.

Fear in Headlights

Fear in Headlights

Today's travel-themed Miracle Monday is from Sister Terri Nath. It's short but a stunner.

On a November night 34 years ago, I was on my way home from Christmas shopping. I was driving along the river road, which is dark with no berm along the side of the road. As I was going up a slight grade, I saw headlights coming straight at me in my lane. There was no place for me to go, and I only had a moment to say, "God help me."
